I recently had the pleasure of appearing on the DMsGuild Design Dash where contestants are asked to create an adventure based on a secret theme in just 15 minutes! In case you weren’t able to join us on twitch, I wanted to take a moment to share it with you now.
This post is a bit different than most of our blog content, but if you’re looking for a fun way to spend an hour that revolves around D&D, then please check out the video below!
Secret Theme
Our special theme was “The Family That Plays Together,” so my adventure is “The Family That Plays Together, Slays Together.”
I loved the family theme as it made me think of all of you! One of my favorite parts of the DnD Duet journey thus far has been hearing from you all and seeing all the different types of duets from friends to partners to parents and their kids to fellow D&D enthusiasts!
The Adventure
I don’t want to spoil too much of it for you, but my favorite part of the adventure is the dragon family, especially the green-copper dragon babies. They’re being loosely supervised by their mother, Elvira, a green dragon, who’s recently struck up a romance with a copper dragon, Stewart.
The Replay!
You can watch the adventure creation process below!
I had so much fun taking part in the design dash, and one of the best parts was getting to connect with Lysa and to meet Imogen, Sadie, and Matt! I loved the intelligence-sucking orb that Sadie created and Imogen’s sweet rakshasa family!
If you’re interested in checking out Sadie and Imogen’s work, may we suggest Sadie’s “The Adventurer’s Domestic Handbook,”* which we’ve been hearing incredible things about, and Imogen’s “Fired and Forgotten,”* the first adventure in the Across Eberron series!
Upcoming Adventures
and a special announcement
I’m planning to develop the pixie-dragon adventure further and release it on DMsGuild later this summer, so stay tuned for updates about that!
And you may have noticed a certain announcement at the end of the dash, that my first novel, Buried Heroes, is now available! If you enjoy high fantasy, nature-based magic, and world-building, I’d love to tell you more about the novel and to share a preview with you! The world, characters, and the story were actually inspired by our duet!
Thank you
To all of our readers, thank you so much for letting us share your time and talk about our shared interests! I’ve been thinking about you all a lot sheltering in place here in North Carolina, and that’s brought so much joy, especially to the darker moments.
Jonathan and I hope that you and your loved ones are safe as you read this and that you’re finding as many opportunities to play as you wish. Know that we’re thinking of you!
