Session One opens in the Eternal Forest, a sweeping region of metallic trees overseen by Luciella, the powerful and captivating hag mistress of the Eternal Forest.

For those returning to Tales of Eldura from season one, you’ll notice a few changes, namely that we are leaving Descent into Avernus behind and continuing forward with a campaign arc designed by Beth.
For those who are new to the stream, this episode provides a recap of Season One so that you can start fresh with Season Two!
Vision Aftermath
Session One picks up following a vision that Garreth had of the location of a mystical sword that once belonged to the guardian Azriel, mistress of death. In the vision, Garreth saw a witch hide the sword inside a crystal pillar deep within the Negative Planes.
We meet that witch, Astrid, soon thereafter!
In the Witchwood of Eldura, before the party left for the Negative Planes, the coven matron exchanged Tessina’s (Garreth’s companion/sidekick) shadow with the spirit of Astrid, who has just awakened following the vision.
Evelyn, Garreth’s fae companion, dislikes and mistrusts Astrid immediately.
Leaving the Shield Behind
Garreth has been carrying around a shield that contains Gargauth, a pit fiend. In this episode, Gargauth makes Garreth an offer—sacrifice one free soul to the pit fiend in exchange for a vehicle capable of traversing the Negative Planes.
Luciella and the residents of the Eternal Forest use vehicles that run on souls, a repugnant prospect to the cleric of Vulcan.
However, as we might expect, there are strings attached to Gargauth’s offer. If Garreth fails to offer an appropriate soul within the designated time, Gargauth will take the soul of the purest and most innocent being Garreth knows—the witch Tessina.
Should I Stay
The other most dramatic occurrence during the episode is Evelyn’s questioning of Garreth about whether she should continue on without the party.
Guilt over Evelyn’s betrayal of her sister Vaxis hangs heavily on Evelyn’s shoulders. She has come to the Negative Planes to free the lost soul of her sister’s lover, Brendan, who was captured during Azriel’s war on the Negative Planes 100 years before.
Garreth convinces Evelyn to stay and promises that they will search for Brendan after their visit to the negata city of Til’Vane where they hope to find more information about the location of Azriel’s sword, the only object powerful enough to free the chains that bind the city of Beacon to the Negative Planes.
