In this post, we talk about our wonderful recent experience with Level Up Dice. If you’re looking for high-quality and unique dice to add something extra special to your gaming table, look no further! These dice make great gifts, are visually stunning, and are a pleasure to roll.
I first saw these dice on Twitter and immediately fell in love. We waited a few months for a special occasion and each got a set for our anniversary.
And in this time gearing up for the holiday season, we wanted to take a moment to suggest them to you!
As a special Thanksgiving weekend promo, Level Up Dice is donating $5 to Take This for every set of dice purchased.
What it is
Level Up Dice creates beautiful semi-precious gemstone and metal dice with gorgeous fonts that add a sense of luxury to the gaming experience.
Luxury Dice? At Level Up Dice we aim to bring you the best in dice with the most sought after materials, we have three stages of quality control to make sure that the dice you get are the best!
Level Up Dice, About Us
We’ve been so happy with these dice since their arrival. Mine especially seem to be quite lucky!
I got the amethyst set, which is my birthstone, and Jonathan the lapis lazuli for his deep and abiding love for the color blue.
Each set of dice comes in a nice bag and with a small charm as well.
Why we love it
Unique!
All of the dice at Level Up Dice are one of a kind, and that comes through even more profoundly when you have an entire set. Gemstones are naturally varied, and you can select your own preferences for the inclusion of other stones and layers when you place your order. Some dice will have options for color shading or opacity.
You will need to keep in mind that the availability of your precise preferences across seven dice is not guaranteed, but their careful dice choosers hand-select your dice, so they’ll do their best to follow your requests.
Amazing customer service
Speaking of attention to detail and customer care, the customer service at Level Up Dice is incredible.
First, they responded to our orders really quickly, and I think in each case, they shipped out the same day. (Please don’t hold them to this in the holiday season as I’m sure, like most places, they’ll be busier than usual.)
I got in touch with their customer service just after ordering Jonathan’s dice to ask when a particular set that I fell in love with (the Arboretum Picture Jasper) would be available. They promised to let me know by email when they were in so I could order them, which they did a couple weeks later.
They also told me how much their shipping goblin (self-named person in charge of selecting and shipping) was delighted with my selections for the lapis lazuli dice and how much fun he had picking them out.
I loved the idea of someone specifically paying attention to what I’d asked for in terms of color and inclusions (the bits of other stones embedded in the dice) and that they would care enough to have mentioned it to someone else!
Rolling!
In addition to how pretty they are, my other favorite thing about Level Up Dice is rolling them. There’s a beautifully satisfying weight to them, which adds a certain amount of gravitas to a roll without being overwhelming.
You will need to be careful with the dice when you’re rolling as the gemstones are not indestructible and can chip, so make sure you’re rolling them in a tray or on a padded surface of some kind and maybe avoid rolling them next to really heavy, sharp-edged metal dice.
Drool-worthy dice
Before you hurry over to their website to peruse the options, we wanted to show you a few of our favorites that we think would be great additions to your table. Our post primarily focuses on the gemstone dice, but there are lots of other great options as well!
Indian Agate
This is one of my favorite sets! I love green and reds, and anything that mixes them together naturally is really interesting to me. I debated between Indian Agate and Bloodstone for a while and, though I like both, these came out on top for me.
Rose Quartz
If your duet partner loves pink or blush, I really don’t know that you could do better than these! We love the font for their dice; there’s something just perfect about it! I especially like the 2s and the 8s, but all the numbers are really lovely to look at.
Blue Turquoise
For an option on the different side of the blue family, these are super pretty! There’s a green turquoise as well if that’s your color spectrum preference.
Topaz
These dice are absolutely stunning. Topaz is a precious stone and the birthstone for November, and it’s the first precious gemstone they’ve carried (rather than semi-precious).
Sylvan Opalite
There are a few different dice options in this Sylvan glyphic pattern, but these are my other favorites, so I had to include them! I love the mystical fey qualities of these dice and the varied color and transparency of the opalescent stone.
Their description of these is perfect:
Ancient forest fairy runes and wings inspire the Sylvan Glyphic design. The design mimics the way magical vines twist and curve around leaves, thorns, and other elements of the design. The design is then hand-carved into Opalite for a clean and clear final look.
Opalite is a synthetic opalescent glass that resembles the stone, Opal and is usually anywhere from clear to milky coloured and can take on an unearthly, luminous blue glow, to a milky, warm, pink or orange one.

Shadow Masque Raised Obsidian
The balance between the matte stone and the shine to the numbers on this set of dice is so beautiful! With these, I get the sense that they’re for a very specific type of player, but if that person is your duet partner, I think you’ll have a good idea of that already.
In Addition to Gemstone Dice…
There are several different options of metals and some gemstone and resin dice combined into gorgeous patterns. We’ll feature a few more for you here, but we’d really encourage you to check out their site for more options!
Brass
These brass dice would be especially perfect for beginning a new campaign as they patina with age. As you and your partner play together for longer and your characters level up, your dice will also reflect your adventuring!
Purple Caged Aluminum
There are several different options for the caged dice, but I love how vibrant this set is! The caged dice jingle when rolled, so they’d make a really fun present for a bard or musically-inclined player!
Stainless Steel
The stainless steel dice are really impressive-looking. I picture them with a powerful paladin who wears silver armor. They’re also food grade which means you can use them as whiskey stones, too!
