For those who are new to duet gaming
If you’re new to one-on-one D&D, welcome! That is both a passion and a specialty of ours! We have a series of posts on the blog written especially for you. And, when you’re ready to dive into adventuring, we also have a three-adventure arc available on DMsGuild designed specifically for new GMs and players for one-on-one D&D!
You can read more about Land of Vampires over on the campaign page, but you may be wondering if there is enough support for you to run your first duet campaign.
This is something we’ve worked very hard to balance. If you are brand new to D&D, I recommend starting with the Crystalline Curse Trilogy (noted above) so you’re comfortable with one-on-one play and with 5e mechanics.
If you’ve played D&D before, whether in a group or in a duet, you’ll find plenty of GM notes along the way for things to consider in terms of scale, character creation and development, and linking together the locations, interactions, and encounters of the campaign.
And if you’re a brand new GM and still aren’t sure which path is best for you, check out the campaign preview attached below and see if it feels manageable! (As someone who’s more of a player than a GM but still GMs in our duet, feeling a little overwhelmed at first is totally normal! You’ve got this!)

For those who have purchased the chapter sets of Land of Vampires
First, thank you! We really appreciate your support, and it has been so fun to share Steymhorod with you over the past few years!
I think it’s very likely that you’re wondering what the difference is between this campaign and the one you purchased. I address this in detail in the campaign FAQs—with a few campaign spoilers, so this is GM’s eyes only!—but I also wanted to cover the basics of that answer here.
The biggest difference between the new, compiled campaign and the previously available campaign chapter sets is the overall consistency and navigation. Instead of having four PDFs, they’re compiled into one.
The compilation also has more details about Lord Draego and integrating him into your campaign as well as some of the extra world information from our Patreon.
What is NEW in this version is the option for a print copy. As a tactile, analog gamer, I am soooo excited about this!
We’re also hoping to expand the campaign with a Land of Vampires part two—two new cities and a brand new villain! Our biggest stretch goal is for a Steymhorod world book!
