We’re officially two months in, and February absolutely blew us away! Thank you so much to all of our amazing readers for your support and encouragement! We have some really exciting things coming in the next month!
In our February update, we talked about some of how and why we got started, but in this update, I’m going to talk a bit about what we’re working on as well as hit the highlights from February.
Coming up in March
The final post in our series on personality! I’ll be looking at Myers-Briggs and how those qualities can help us better understand and develop the characters in our games. If you haven’t already, please check out our posts on The Four Temperaments and, my personal favorite, The Personality Compass.
On Monday, we’ll be checking back in with our friends from the Me, My Spouse, and a Die podcast. They’ll be telling us more about their homebrew world and some of what went into making that and, bonus, they have some advice to share for duets that are starting out. (You can read the first of their featured posts here!)
The news you’ve all been waiting for—we’re finally getting close to wrapping up Second Glance!* This one is a bit bigger and more involved than First Blush,* so we apologize for the delay, but we promise it will be worth it! I just finished Garren’s backstory last night, and Jonathan’s been drawing up some really cool maps to include with the adventure.
Later this month, I’ll also be tackling flirtation and romance at the D&D table and write a follow-up post to Jonathan’s amazing guide for flipping DM and player roles where I’ll discuss the secondary NPCs that duets uniquely allow the player to dive into.
Our Special Project
As we said in the February update, we’ve been working on a parent site for D&D Duet, and it’s finally taking shape and will be ready later this month! We wanted to save the big reveal for here first so, drumroll please:
Grove Guardian Press is our new project, and we can’t wait for you to see the site! Right now our projected launch date is March 20th, but we’ll keep you posted!
The mission of Grove Guardian Press is to help writers harness the power of their own storytelling. To publish texts that allow players and readers to envision new possibilities for the present and the future. To put stories out into the world believing that we all hold within ourselves the power to effect positive change.
If you’re a player, a DM/GM, an aspiring novelist, an artist, or a creator, our goal is to encourage you when you’re feeling stuck, to provide you with ideas for developing your own writing process, and to point you toward excellent content to keep the ideas flowing.
We hope you’ll join us on this new adventure!
February was awesome!
There’s really no other way to say how incredible our second month was. First Blush,* just this morning, passed 2500 downloads. That’s so many duets!
First Blush also received a copper, silver, and then an electrum metal for the number of paid downloads, and Cupid’s Sparrow* made it to copper! We were so blown away by this and are incredibly honored. Thank you so much for your support; it means the world to us.
*We receive a small commission from DMsGuild—at no cost to you—when you follow the affiliate link from our site to theirs and make a purchase.
Other News
We have a few happenings outside of the blog as well!
In Our Duet
Today (ideally) we are wrapping up a narrative that we’ve been working on since this summer when we finish off the green dragon that we had an epic encounter with last weekend! After that, things open up a bit in our game, and I’m not sure what we’ll decide to do next, so stay tuned!
At Home
Beth is on spring break for a week this month (yay!), and she’ll be working on some future posts and projects during that time.
And Jonathan’s birthday is this month, so we’ll absolutely be celebrating that!
Our dogs are cute and ridiculous as usual, and we’re all looking forward to spring!
