Land of Vampires: Adventure Three
The Land of Vampires series continues with “The Seed of Corruption,” a four-part level 4 adventure for one GM and one player! In what follows, we’ll cover part four of this duet adventure. Here, the PC and their companions wrap up their quest in the Fetid Fields only to be beset upon by werewolves! To escape, they must run into the nearest place of shelter, the boughs of the Green Vale! But a new set of challenges await the party in the ancient fae forest.
We’ll be releasing this campaign in serial this summer and fall in part thanks to the incredible support of our patrons—thank you all! If you’re enjoying this campaign and would like to support us, we’d love for you to join us on Patreon!

Part Three: The Green Lady
After acquiring the Heart of the Field for Lazarus, the party is free to depart from the ruins. As they finally emerge into the moderately fresh air outside, a strange band greets them on the estate’s borders. The collection of stern sprites, elves, and a satyr face down the party with bows drawn. Unless the party convinced them to stay, Rutoh is with the fae group.
A beautiful elven woman clad in varied shades of green steps forward and introduces herself as Trista, a Guardian of the Vale. She demands that the party explain their actions and intentions here in Steymhorod. If the party produces the Heart of the Field, she can offer an abridged version of the information in the sidebar. Trista warns that it is not an item to be handled or considered lightly and predicts that the party’s decisions in Steymhorod will have serious consequences for all.
Conclusion
As the party converses with Trista, the omnipresent buzzing of insects falls silent shortly before an ominous howl pierces the air. The fae begin sprinting for the woods on the far side of the Fetid Fields, away from St. Sebastian. Trista declares, “The pack is upon us! Run!”
Several loping, hungry shapes appear out of the fog. They gather speed as they sprint straight for the party. Run a skill challenge (rather than a combat) for them to escape the pack of werewolves. Look for three successes total. A failure could result in the loss of a success or in 2d4+2 slashing damage from a pursuing werewolf. Suggested actions and DCs follow:
DC | Action |
15 Strength (Athletics) | Running, jumping, climbing |
13 Wisdom (Survival) | Find a clear path through the wood |
17 Dexterity (Acrobatics) | Vaulting over an interposing werewolf |
If the party succeeds, the howls fade, and they find themselves running alongside Trista through trees that look different from those the party’s seen in the Witchwood. Trista urges, “Follow me. You have much to discover.”
And thus concludes part four of “The Seed of Corruption!” In the month of October, we’ll be exploring the Green Vale in “A Thief in the Night!”

Love the campaign. Is this the end of it?
Beth says
Hi Thomas,
That is wonderful to hear, thank you! The campaign is still continuing, but we delayed posting the next part because we were trying to decide how helpful it is to have the adventures in blog form or if we should switch to just offering them for sale in our store. I think we might do both things going forward, but we would love to hear your thoughts if you’d like to share them!
And thanks so much for your kind words about the campaign! We’re having a great time writing and sharing it!
