We have a fun bonus supplement for you today based on a recent campaign arc in our duet game. You can incorporate the zodiac warrior bonuses for your PC as a way to enhance the PC’s abilities (empowered) without them becoming invincible (overpowered). This is also a nice way to add variety to the PC’s character options.
In our duet game, my PC has been working really hard to return the constellations to the sky of a city contained in the depths of the Shadowlands called New Orison.
Jonathan made a zodiac warrior randomizing table for her that we thought would be fun to share with you! The special ability changes depending on which constellation is in the sky.
[We recognize that these are the same constellations that we have on earth and that they wouldn’t actually match the ones in Azuria or other homebrew worlds, but hopefully this gets you started!]
To use this table, roll 1d12 to determine the most prominent constellation at any given point. The PC of your duet game then gains the selected trait from the list below for four weeks.
Zodiac Warrior Table
d12 | Sign and Effect |
1 | Capricorn: advantage on Constitution and Strength saving throws |
2 | Taurus: gain 10 feet of movement on your turn during the first round of combat |
3 | Virgo: ignore difficult terrain |
4 | Aquarius: once per day, gain one use of either the water breathing or water walk spell without expending a spell slot |
5 | Gemini: gain the lucky feat on the first and fourteenth days of the month |
6 | Libra: once per day, gain advantage on one Wisdom (Insight) check |
7 | Pisces: gain one use of freedom of movement per day without expending a spell slot |
8 | Cancer: advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks once per day |
9 | Scorpio: once per day, add +2 to initiative roll |
10 | Aries: gain advantage to saving throws against being frightened |
11 | Leo: once per day, double healing dice of a single-round spell or potion |
12 | Sagittarius: once per day, gain advantage on either a Dexterity (Stealth) or Wisdom (Survival) check |
We hope this provides some fun additional options for you to add to your PC or campaign! I could see a similar table coming into being after a PC has spent a great deal of time in a particular environment or on a new plane.
Jonathan added this ability for my PC just before our final boss fight of this particular arc, which gave her a nice, empowering boost. You don’t have to use any of the above abilities for the four weeks, but we do hope it sparks some innovative ideas for your duet game!
We originally released this supplement as a bonus for our patrons.
