A One-on-One Campaign for Levels 1-10
Several thousand years ago, the land of Steymhorod disappeared from the surface of Eldura. What had once been a prosperous region descended into the Shadowlands, its borders separated from the rest of the plane by impenetrable mist. At all times, Steymhorod remains under gray clouds, lit only by weak sunlight even at the brightest times of day. The forests teeter on the cusp between autumn and winter, a state of living death. And over the land, a dark vampire lord, Draego, rules.
It is toward this land that our adventurer’s destiny leads, though Steymhorod has not yet cast its pall over their fate.
But the fallen land beckons all the same.
About the Campaign
The Land of Vampires campaign is our first full-length duet campaign, spanning levels one through ten.
There are four parts to the campaign, three of which are available now and the last of which we plan to release in October 2021.
Introductory Campaign Arc
In the Campaign Intro, you’ll find several diverse PC backgrounds and backstories to set the player up for their adventure in Steymhorod.
The PC starts their journey in Linolynn, where they witness the disappearance of a child—an occurrence that has been plaguing the city for weeks—and set about recovering the child.
While in Linolynn, the PC meets several capable friends and allies, one of whom they may choose to bring with them on their adventure!
We have a special bonus supplement to go alongside the Land of Vampires campaign with two unique adventuring companion classes and seven subclasses. Plus you’ll also get special rules and mechanics for animal companions and optional companion rules like companion-specific feats!
The supplement also includes six companion characters, three of whom the PC meets in the intro adventure arc!
Campaign Part One
In Part One, the PC arrives in Steymhorod and gets their bearings in the village of Willowhold. The denizens of Steymhorod are anxious to make the party’s acquaintance, especially denizens of the zombie variety… (Though the witches and fae are curious to meet them too!)
Part One has a linear structure and guides the PC from levels three through 6. During these five adventures, the PC makes allies (and enemies) in Steymhorod and begins to hunt for the vampire they encountered in Linolynn.
Campaign Part Two
Part Two of the campaign takes a modal approach to the party’s adventures, freeing up the Storyteller (DM/GM) to pursue the PC’s priorities in this dark realm.
The PC must choose between weakening or hunting their enemy while they avoid the dangers lurking about Steymhorod. But don’t worry, we have special mechanics, adventures, and cures for the inevitable occurrences like lycanthropy! *insert wink here*
Campaign Origin and Inspiration
This campaign emerged from our home duet game and the adventures Jonathan created for my first ever PC, Briseras Ravisthinia (one of the stars of Hadvarian Heist!). We started off with the intention of running through Curse of Strahd; Jonathan loves that campaign, and he wanted to test it out before using it in D&D Club at his school.
Even by our second session, we had pivoted so far from Curse of Strahd that it didn’t make sense to try to run the campaign from there, but Jonathan also figured out that we’d hit upon something really cool! Shortly after we finished the initial campaign arc (6-9 months later, I believe), we started writing the campaign piece by piece for our patrons!
It’s been really cool to see the campaign grow over the last 15 months as we’ve released a new chapter each month! Creating a full-length D&D campaign was one of our dreams when we first started our patreon in April 2019! And now we’re just a few adventures away from having a complete Steymhorod arc!
Jonathan and I are so thankful to our patrons for their questions and ideas along the way. We’re also thankful to you, our amazing community, for supporting us in this extended venture!
We’re getting so close to having Part Three or the campaign ready to go, and we can’t wait to share it with you!
